2ur textbooks come with writing prompts that cover all the writing aspects of the Common Core. Every other week during first semester, you will be directed to complete one of these prompts and submit it. The writings are computer scored. (I checked it out thoroughly. The computer scoring is fair and accurate.) To do this, you must be logged in under your user name so that I can see your feedback and give you credit. The writing assignments will be due on Thursdays by midnight. See below for a list of due dates and topics.
A word of caution: If you don't make a legitimate attempt to write a complete essay, the computerized scoring will not score your response. You will get an "unscorable". If this happens, you will have to do it again. Do it right the first time. Keep in mind: Your essay should have multiple paragraphs and address the prompt specifically. You will also submit your essays to turnitin.com. If you copy all or part of your essay, you will get a zero on the fifty point assignment.
Upping your score: When you submit an essay, you will see your score almost immediately. If you are displeased with that score, you may revise and re-submit (called an R and R in the publishing world). I will take your essay with the highest score that is submitted before the deadline.
Grading Scale: 6 = 50 points 5 = 47 points 4 = 44 points 3 = 41 points 2 = 38 points 1 = 35 points U = You must rewrite to get at least a one.
