Directions for February 7: A change of plans - I want you to read and analyze Question 2 from the packet I gave you last week. Do not write the essay! Question 2 is the Cesar Chavez article written on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's assassination.
Read the article carefully (read it more than once) and take notes on the rhetorical choices made by the author. You will work on your own for the first 30 minutes of the period. At that time, you may work with a partner and compare your findings. We'll discuss it on Wednesday.

Friedman Summary Feedback: 1. Get your facts correct 2. Watch your sentence structure - I saw run-ons, fragments, and excessive wordiness. 3. Organize your points 4. Use better verbs (see the lists under Writing Help!). 5. Edit - read your summaries aloud. I realize this sounds strange, but it is highly effective in finding errors. 6. Use command f to search for "you" and "your." 7. Commas, semi-colons, and passive voice - all issues that we will address soon
